" A Child of God"

It seems that I best express myself sometimes through poetry. I have never shared my poetry with anyone but Keith, but I thought I might share some on here...

"A Child of God"

by Jessica E. Richardson

I have been given idenity
One that dictates my eternity
I have been given a right
I have been chosen to walk in light.
My God has given me hope!
Because of Him this life I can cope.
I am child of God!

What a wonderful thing!
How my heart can sing!
I have a Father who loves me
And wants to spend time with me daily.
He has given me so much!
I have been blessed by His touch!
I am a child of God!

As His child I have a responsibility
He says, "My child, abide in Me."
Each day I choose to follow
Because I know he loves me so.
I can sing
Give praise to  my king!
I am a child of God!

So... that is one of the many poems that I  have written. Stay tuned for more in the near future! :)

Thank God for only 2!

2 cavities that is... I never thought I would be glad about cavities. But here is the story: So, I hadn't been to the dentist in awhile... so I looked up a dentist on my insurance's website. I found one that was really close to where I live. Not going to the say the name on here, but we'll call CDA (aka "cavity factory" by another dentist) for short. So, I go to CDA, get my teeth cleaned, x-rays done, all that good stuff and then they start checking my teeth! This dentist tells me I have 8 + cavities!! I am freaking out at this moment... I mean I know I haven't been to the dentist in awhile... but 8 is alot! So, I decided after much thought and pray that I needed to get a 2nd opinion. I go to the dentist who have gone to for years (only reason I didn't go before is because you have to file your own insurance) and she looks at my new x-rays and says, to my relief, that I only have 2 cavities! whoo! Such a relief! For the record... I trust her because I and my family have been going to her for years.

Lessons learned:
1) Stick to what you know! I should have gone to my family dentist from the beginning.
2) If something seems really outrageous... get a 2nd opinion!
3) ALWAYS get recommendations before you get a new dentist.

Thanking God for two cavities and not eight! :)

Oh Fall...

Happy October!!! I just love fall! :) Esp. when it starts feeling like it... for awhile I though summer would never not end. But alas, it has and fall is upon us! Here are some fun fall decorative pictures...

This is little look at our bookshelf with all it's fall decor.
Kitchen table... :)
Console tables in the living room...

wreath on the door...

This is my favorite new project... my friend Tricia and I decorated these pumpkins. Just between us, this was not a real pumpkin. It was a "craft pumpkin" from Michael's. We used the same little carving tools you use to carve a real pumpkin... isn't it fun?! :)

Help!

So, my dashboard is all REALLY small. I can hardly see to type this... does anyone have any suggestions? It has been like this for at least a week... which is why I haven't posted! I don't know why it is like this....

PS...

Speaking of my friend Tricia-- you should check out her blog. She makes the most amazing cakes- check them out! :)
http://triciasdarlindesigns.blogspot.com/

And she's back!

I'm back....

Okay, so blogging has not been as easy as I thought. My conclusion is that I really enjoy looking at the blogs of others, but can't seem to keep my own blog going. BUT with that said- if there is one thing I am it is determined and slightly stubborn. (just ask my husband) I am not going to give it up just yet. Track-out is just around the corner (t-one week!) and so is FALL! Fall is my favorite! I do have a couple projects in mind...

Upcoming projects (for track-out):
1) Decorate the house for fall-- pictures to come with that
2) Paint small canvases with some of the phrases from the love chapter (1 Cor. 13) such as "Love is patient", etc. to put up around some of our wedding pictures that we hung up. Hopefully, it will turn out as well as it looks in my head. :) My friend Tricia, who is the middle school art teach at Franklin and a dear friend of mine from Providence, has told me she will help. AND Micheal's is having a BOGO free sale on their small canvases! Hopefully, there will be some fun pictures to go along with this, also
Well, that is just about it... except for one thing. We had a good time at the beach this past weekend (Labor Day) with Keith's family. The weather was GORGEOUS, I learned some new card games, and I was convinced to take a 34 mile bike ride with Keith's parents!!! Talk about sore, but surprisingly had a really great time... whether or not Keith's parents did or not, I don't know, considering they had to go pretty slow for me. But it was a fun trip. Here are a couple of pictures:

Tminus 6 days!!!

Happy Friday!!! Including today, we only have 6 days of school! As much as I enjoy my job... I am in need of a break!

Here's a little insight into my job...

HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TEACHER?

by Jeff Foxworthy

1. You can hear 25 voices behind you and know exactly which one belongs to
the child out of line.

2. You get a secret thrill out of laminating something.

3. You walk into a store and hear the words "It's Ms/Mr. _________" and
know you have been spotted.

4. You have 25 people that accidentally call you Mom/Dad at one time or
another.

5. You can eat a multi-course meal in under twenty-five minutes.

6. You've trained yourself to go to the bathroom at two distinct times of
the day: lunch and planning period.

7. You start saving other people's trash, because most likely, you can use
that toilet paper tube or plastic butter tub for something in the
classroom.

8. You believe the teachers' lounge should be equipped with a IB Profen/ Advil
machine.

9. You want to slap the next person who says, "Must be nice to work 8 to 4
and have summers off."

10. You believe chocolate is a food group.

11. You can tell if it's a full moon without ever looking outside.

12. You believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says, "Boy, the kids sure are mellow today."

13. You feel the urge to talk to strange children and correct their
behavior when you are out in public.

14. You believe in aerial spraying of Ritalin.

15. You think caffeine should be available in intravenous form.

16. You spend more money on school stuff than you do on your own children.

17. You can't pass the school supply aisle without getting at least five
items!

18. You ask your friends if the left hand turn he just made was a "good
choice or a bad choice."

19. You find true beauty in a can full of perfectly sharpened pencils

20. You are secretly addicted to hand sanitizer

and finally......

You understand instantaneously why a child behaves a certain way after
meeting his or her parents.

Hard to Believe

It is so hard to believe that last year at this time, we were doing all sorts of last minute wedding details. Here are some of the things I or others were working on. All those last minute details- What a fun time! My perspective over a year later: everything was beautiful and took much planning, but all worth it. But, boy am I glad that I only have to get married once! Planning and having a wedding is alot of hard work!

And what is my perspective on marriage after almost a year? Next to asking Christ into my life- it was the best thing I have ever done. I am so glad that I married Keith! I am blessed to be married to a man that loves and pursues Christ and desires to lead our marriage in a Christ-honoring way. More to come on this. I will also post some more wedding photos next week. :)

All for now!

So, like I said in my previous post, I was going on my first couponing trip today. If I might say so myself- it was quite a success. I went to Harris Teeter, where they will triple all your manufacture's coupons. I am starting out slow, just getting a few things. Eventually, I want to try to all my shopping this way. Here is what I got, today:

Oh, coupons...

So, today I decided to enter the world of couponing... at least I have ambitions to do that. =) This week at Harris Teeter- it is triple coupon week! http://www.harristeeter.com/promotions/online_coupons/coupon_policy.aspx I am going to try it out on Saturday! I have never done this before. Any suggestions from fellow couponers? :) (Natalie??) I clipped my coupons today and am all ready to go on my first coupon expedition. Wish me luck!!

On another note, did you know that Michael's has a FREE Mother's Day card-making event? On Saturday, May 8 from 10am to Noon AND right after the card making even, there is a FREE Mother's Day Wilton Cookie event. I might go to these. Anybody care to join? Let me know!

Thanks for the ideas on cameras. I do just want point and shoot. Nothing too elaborate. Basically, I just want to be able to take pictures and upload. :) I will look into some of these suggestions.
Thanks for the insight! :)

Back to Reality

Well, yesterday school started again. But, this is my favorite quarter, because we have such fun events going on. Here are a few:

1) Mother's Day Tea (We are going to take pictures of the kids for their moms-- girls in boas and gloves and boys in top hats. ) It's always so fun to see the kids interact with their moms. :)
2) A field trip to Marbles Museum.
3) End of the Year Party (A Luau)
4) The Annual 1st grade talent show (always a laugh and so much fun! :))
5) Lunch date with Dad

And that is just a few... not to mention how much I LOVE Spring weather!!! We really do all sorts of fun things. :)

On another note- my camera broke last week :( which means no pictures for a little bit. I am looking for a new one. Any suggestions??

He is RISEN!

Okay, okay... technically I am a day late. But Christ has Risen and that is worth celebrating! He conquered death and sin AND triumphed over the enemy! Even though "Resurrection Sunday" was yesterday... it can be celebrated today and every day for that matter. We sometimes fall into a pattern of celebrating Christ's birth and his death/resurrection on its designated day (Christmas and Easter), but as Pastor Horner said yesterday- it is meant to be celebrated ALL year long! If you are IN Christ- you can celebrate it all year long! Isn't that great!? Take some time, today to celebrate what Christ has done for you, today. :)

Good Friday

Today represents the day when my Savior died for me. He took my sin upon himself and saved me when I could not save myself. The second verse of "Before the Throne of God" comes to mind:

When Satan tempts me to despair And tells me of the guilt within, Upward I look and see Him there Who made an end of all my sin. Because the sinless Savior died My sinful soul is counted free. For God the just is satisfied To look on Him and pardon me.

Take some time to reflect on that today. Christ took our place and made a way for us! What an amazing sacrifice that was!

Here We Go...

So I promised my sister that I would start blogging when I got married... I have been married for almost a year and have never really blogged... so here it goes. For those of you that are blog fans, bear with me as I enter the world of blogging and learn the ins and outs of it. I guess I have never thought my life to be interesting enough to blog about but I will let the readers decide that, I suppose.

So, for my first post- I will begin with some good news. After almost 10 months of studying, Keith passed the NC Bar! I am so proud of him! Way to go, babe!

After Keith took the Bar, we took a little trip to Hilton Head Island. Here are some pictures from our trip:
We rented bikes and rode around our resort. It was fun! :)

We went out to eat at a nice restaurant that overlooked the harbor! It was beautiful.

This was on top of the lighthouse. As you can see, it was pretty windy up there.

We also went to eat at a Japanese steak house one night.

Well, there you have it, my first attempt at blogging! Enjoy! :)
